Slingback Heels for Women - Strappy Styles

Comfort Without Compromise

Slingbacks have a reputation for looking dressier than they feel, but that isn't the trade-off here. Many styles in this range are built on cushioned footbeds with supportive linings, so the open-back design doesn't come at the cost of all-day wearability. Considered heel heights are a focus too, with block heel options offering a steadier base than a stiletto while keeping the slingback's open silhouette. Quality leather uppers are common through the collection, which helps the shoe hold its shape and move with the foot rather than against it. If you're deciding between a slingback and a closed-back alternative, our Women's Platform Heels range is worth a look for a more grounded, everyday option with similar comfort priorities.

Styling Slingback Heels

Slingback block heels sit comfortably between casual and dressed-up, which makes them one of the more versatile heel styles to own. Pair them with tailored trousers or a midi skirt for the office, or dress them down with a simple dress for a daytime event. The adjustable ankle strap on many styles means a more secure fit through the day, which suits weddings, work functions and evenings out equally well. For those who prefer a bit more height and a broader base underfoot, the Women's Wedge Heels collection offers a similar level of stability with a different silhouette.

Fit, Care and In-Store Help

Because the strap sits around the ankle rather than enclosing the heel, getting the fit right matters more with slingbacks than with a standard court shoe. Our in-store team across Mountfords' Melbourne stores can help with fitting, including adjusting strap length where the style allows, so the shoe stays put without slipping at the heel. For leather styles, a light wipe with a damp cloth after wear and a shoe tree between wears will help the upper keep its shape and finish over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes a slingback heel different from a regular heel?

A: A slingback heel has an open back held by a strap around the ankle or heel, rather than a closed heel counter that wraps fully around the foot.

Q: Are slingback block heels more comfortable than stilettos?

A: Many people find block heels more stable and comfortable for longer wear, since the broader heel base spreads weight more evenly than a thin stiletto heel.

Q: Can slingback heels be worn for work?

A: Yes, many styles pair well with tailored trousers or skirts for the office, particularly block heel versions with a lower or mid heel height.

Q: How do I get the right fit for a slingback heel?

A: Since fit relies on the ankle strap rather than a closed heel, it helps to try them on in-store. Our Melbourne-based team can assist with sizing and strap adjustment.
